Nutritional Therapy

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy looks at an individual’s health through an approach called functional medicine. Functional medicine attempts to assess certain health conditions through analysis of physiological symptoms and interactions with their environment over time. Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and maybe suitable if you have a chronic condition or are looking for support to enhance your health and wellbeing.

As a Nutritional Therapist I acknowledge that everyone is unique and therefore recommend personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach. It is not a replacement for medical advice but rather the aim is to work alongside the medical professional and keep them informed of why any nutritional recommendations have been made.

Natural Vitality - Julie Weston

What can I expect?

At the outset you will be asked to complete a comprehensive health and nutrition questionnaire that will need to be returned before we have an initial consultation. This consultation lasts 60 – 90 minutes in which you will be asked detailed questions about current health concerns, symptoms, family history, lifestyle, medication, supplements and diet.

We then go through your diet together and assess how it may be contributing to your symptoms. You will then be provided with basic dietary advice, meal ideas and handouts to support your main health concerns. A health optimisation plan outlining your goals and including specific dietary guidelines will be emailed to you after the consultation. I may also suggest laboratory tests and supplements which I can organise for you should you deem them appropriate.

You will spend between 4-6 weeks working on your goals and a follow-up appointment is usually required to evaluate progress and re-set goals as necessary. Further follow-up consultations may be required depending on each individual situation.

A FREE 15-minute discussion prior to booking your consultation is recommended in order to ensure Nutritional Therapy is suitable for you.
